Product Overview
3Professional Product Overview
The ALC-SCIENTIFIC UV-VIS Spectrophotometer is designed for qualitative and quantitative measurement of light absorption and transmission across the ultraviolet and visible wavelength regions. The instrument measures the interaction of light with liquid samples, solutions and other compatible materials to determine absorbance, transmittance, concentration, spectral characteristics and reaction behaviour. Depending on the selected configuration, the instrument may use single-beam, dual-beam or double-beam optical architecture with a xenon flash lamp or deuterium and tungsten-halogen lamp system. Available measurement functions may include fixed-wavelength photometry, full-spectrum scanning, quantitative calibration, concentration measurement, kinetics, time-course analysis, nucleic-acid measurement and protein analysis. Final wavelength range, spectral bandwidth, photometric accuracy, stray-light performance, optical design and software functions must be confirmed for the selected ALC-SCIENTIFIC model.

Optical Measurement
8Working Principle
A UV-VIS Spectrophotometer measures how much ultraviolet or visible light is absorbed or transmitted by a sample. A light source produces ultraviolet and visible radiation. A monochromator separates the light into selected wavelengths and directs the selected wavelength through the sample. The detector measures transmitted-light intensity and the instrument calculates absorbance or transmittance. Concentration can be determined using the Beer-Lambert relationship or a calibration curve.
Single-Beam System
Measures blank and sample sequentially using the same optical path. Suitable for routine measurements, compact instruments and cost-sensitive laboratories.
Dual- or Double-Beam System
Compares sample and reference signals to improve baseline stability, long-duration kinetics and scanning consistency.
